PHA Finishes Installing Sprinklers in High-Rise Buildings

Hundreds of St. Paul’s low-income, senior, and disabled residents are safer tonight thanks to a massive project to install sprinklers in more than a dozen high-rise buildings.

Sprinklers were not required when the 16 public high-rise buildings were constructed, but the Public Housing Agency voluntarily took on the task to put sprinklers in all of those buildings.

The Ordway Gardens officially opened Friday at the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory in St. Paul. The new $2.8 million will allow the conservatory’s famous Bonsai collection to be shown year-round.
