Como Park Conservatory Open Sunday for Artists

The Como Park Conservatory is opening its doors Sunday, April 10, just for local painters and photographers.

It's an opportunity for artists to bring in easels, tripods and other materials to capture the beauty of the Sunken Garden Spring Flower Show, the North Garden's exotic plants and more.

The Conservatory will be open from 8 a.m. To 10 a.m. The cost is $5 per person.

Como Zoo Needs Japanese Garden Volunteers

If you love gardening, and have an interest in Japanese cultural, you might be interested in volunteering with the Como Zoo and Conservatory.

The Zoo is looking for volunteers to become Japanese Garden Interpretive Guides. According to the zoo, volunteers will be trained on the symbolism, key elements and the tradition of Japanese gardens.

Fall Flower Show in Full Bloom

The Majorie McNeely Conservatory's Fall Flower Show is still in full bloom.

Visitors can come out to the Como Zoo to check out chrysanthemums in a variety of shades. It features hundreds of chrysanthemums in colors of red, yellow, orange and gold. There are also ornamental grasses on display.

The Marjorie McNeely Conservatory's Fall Flower Show Set to Open

Embrace the fall season at Majorie McNeely Conservatory's Fall Flower Show.

The flower show dates back to 1915 when the Majorie McNeely Conservatory opened. It features hundreds of chrysanthemums in colors of red, yellow, orange and gold. There are also ornamental peppers and ornamental grasses on display.

The show runs from October 9 through November 29 at the Como Zoo.

Como Zoo Orchids On Display At The State Fair

The Como Zoo packed up their orchids and headed to the State Fair.

Officials say the Como Zoo will have more than 50 orchids that will be on display and judged in the Orchid Society of Minnesota's Annual State Fair Show. The competition takes place September 3 through September 4.
