Gov. Dayton Orders Flags Lowered After Boston Blasts

Gov. Mark Dayton is ordering Minnesota flags lowered to honor victims of the Boston Marathon bombing.

Dayton signed a proclamation ordering all flags flown at half-staff at state and federal buildings in Minnesota from Tuesday until sunset Saturday.

Security Stepped Up in Minn. After Boston Explosion

Nearly 1,500 miles away, the chaos in Boston is being closely monitored in Minnesota.

From a St. Paul Command Center, Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and Homeland Security are monitoring developments out of Boston.

Adoption, Foster Parents Needed in Ramsey Co.

Ramsey County is looking for couples willing to adopt and serve as foster parents.

The county hosted an adoption fair Saturday at Mount Olivet Baptist Church in St. Paul. Organizers say 145 children need homes in the county. Half of the children in need are African American.

Light Snow Falls Across Twin Cities Friday

The worst of the rare April storm is past.

However, light snow will continue to fall across the Twin Cities Friday.

KSTP.com Meteorologist Jonathan Yuhas said temperatures will remain below freezing and will make for some slippery spots on the roads and sidewalks.

296 Crashes Reported During April Storm in Minn.

A snow and sleet storm Thursday across Minnesota resulted in 296 crashes as of 4 p.m., according to the State Patrol.

Of those, 39 crashes caused injuries. There were no serious or deadly injuries reported.

In addition, 440 vehicles went off the road and spun out, according to the state patrol. The incidents happened between 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday across the state.
